Thunderbird Field: Flying Site Access

The following entry and exit rules below are government requirements set by the US Army Corps of Engineers, who manage the park the flying site is in.

  1. The park cannot be entered before 6AM. Please do not ask to get in before 6AM.
  2. When the Bear Creek entrance to the park is open from 6AM until 8:30AM, all teams and volunteers must enter through Bear Creek (Ben Day Murrin Rd., off FM 1187), only. This is a park rule. You will be turned away from other entry points during this period. After 8:30AM, teams, volunteers and visitors must enter by the Mustang Creek entrance via Winscott Plover Rd., off 1187, only.
  3. Speed limits in the park must be observed.
  4. Teams that do not have their own vehicles must prearrange for their own reliable and scheduled transportation. This transportation must be at the field to pick teams up no later than 6PM Saturday and 3PM Sunday. You must have transportation with enough seats for all team members.
  5. All SAE traffic must exit via the Mustang Park gate, only.
  6. All teams must be out of the park by 7 PM.
  7. Our last volunteer workers cannot leave the field until all teams have left.
  8. Please be polite and cooperative at all times with all park officials and with the event officials
    and volunteers. See rules number 1.17.1 and 1.17.2.
